Twelve

As Declan goes to step backwards out of the lift as it stops on his floor, shortly after dropping off Nora and Bradley, he’s almost afraid that Robyn will refuse to follow him.

“Sure, you still want this?” he asks with a circumspect grin as she presses her spine against the lift wall and seems to want to weld herself to it.

She nods and smiles back at him openly enough. She even takes a step towards him after sucking in a deep breath, and it’s only as he holds out his arms towards her that she falters.

A little encouragement though, and like a nervous animal, she cautiously starts towards him again. Moving a little quicker as her confidence clearly builds when he nods reassuringly, but even though he sees her expression switch from fear to determination as she nears him, he isn’t expecting what Robyn does next.

Her eyes narrowing, she suddenly lunges at him. Her fingers fisting in his shirt and her body wrapping around his. The clunk of their teeth colliding is followed by her soft lips awkwardly covering his, and as she moans into his mouth, she pushes her tongue roughly alongside his and holding back is the last thing she does, unlike when he kissed her in the lift just a few seconds before.

This really isn’t the same woman. He’d almost regretted his lack of control. Kissing her the second Bradley and Nora had gotten out, but he’d thought it was all okay when after a moment where she had turned to stone in his arms, her body had relaxed. He’d taken the lead in the kiss, taken control of her movements, pressing her up against the wall and angling her mouth just so. She’d responded nothing short of satisfactorily and they’d only stopped kissing when the lift ground to a halt.

Now the sensation of Robyn’s teeth sinking into his bottom lip as one hand slides up around his neck is unexpected, not what he was anticipating from his nervous little bird at all, but he likes it all the same. There’s shy after all, and then there’s frigid.

She isn’t that because the next thing he’s aware of is her body slamming against his and she’s backing him out of the lift just as the doors start to slide closed again.

The lift gone; he finds himself being driven hard against the nearest door, her body moulding to his and he has to admit the difference in her as she moans hungrily into his mouth is both startling and enchanting. It’s just nowhere near as pleasant as the blush that spreads across her face as she suddenly realises that they have company.

Hearing footsteps, he spots the exact moment that she realises they are no longer alone. Her eyes go wide, and she stops kissing him, but instead of looking at the perfectly pleasant enough elderly couple who walk by them and pretend not to have noticed her kissing his face off as they pass, she buries her head into the crook of his neck and most definitely hides.
